The Bunkprugu Yunyoo District Assembly has in a unanimous decision approved the appointment of Mr. Philip Laari as the District Chief Executive.
In an election conducted by the Electoral Commission, the new DCE polled 37 out of 37 votes cast representing 100 percent in the 40 member assembly. Three members were absent.
Mr. Laari in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the assembly members for reposeing confidence in him and vowed to work with an free-will guiding principle to guarantee the development of the area.
Even though the area has been plagued by land and chieftaincy disputes, the DCE said peace was steadily returning and appealed to the people of the district to resentfully protect the relative peace they have enjoyed.
“My administration will focus on agriculture, education, infrastructural development and jobs for especially the women and youth of the area”, he noted.
The Northern Regional Minister, Moses Mabingba was upbeat that Mr. Laari’s confirmation would translate into development.
President John Evans Atta Mills a fortnight ago appointed three people including Mr. Laari to replace three DCEs who were ousted earlier in the year.
